Brian Van Wye

Brian’s practical experience distinguishes him from other Realtors and will help you buy or sell your home. He has worked construction, managed the gutting and renovation of his own Petworth, DC rowhouse, obtained construction permits, and managed construction permitting programs for the local government of Washington, DC. An accomplished negotiator and entrepreneurial problem solver, Brian designed and implemented the District’s ground-breaking Stormwater Retention Credit Trading Program, enabling the District to comply with federal Clean Water Act requirements while navigating the competing interests of the development community and environmentalists.

For his leadership, Brian was chosen from among more than 30,000 DC government employees to receive a Cafritz Award for excellence and innovation in public service. Brian has lived in the DC area for 20 years, buying and selling homes as he transitioned from bachelor to husband to dad. Brian understands that where you are in your life, what you want from it, and your lifestyle are major factors in deciding when it’s time to buy a new home or list the one you currently own.

Brian is a founder of the award-winning Clark & Van Wye team working in DC, MD, and VA. Prior to joining Compass, Brian was a senior manager in Washington DC’s Department of Energy and Environment. He has served as the Anacostia Riverkeeper, and he was a Peace Corps Volunteer in sub-Saharan Africa. Brian lives in Washington, DC with his wife, four daughters, and two dogs.
